CACCs celebrating our very best

This week started in Sacramento with a Board of Governors meeting.

One of the best things we get to do is celebrate the work of our community colleges, and this meeting was no different.

Chabot CollegeGlendale CollegeMiraCosta College and San Diego Mesa College have been honored by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors with 2023-24 Exemplary Program Awards in partnership with the statewide Academic Senate.

Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education – MLK

This past Monday, as we paused to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I re-read his piece “The Purpose of Education.”

We must remember that intelligence is not enough.
Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.
The complete education gives one not only power of concentration,
but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate.

CA CCs starting the new year 2024 full throttle

This week, I attended the Dual Enrollment conference at Santa Barbara City College.

Student Trustee Paul Medina, SBCC Trustee Jonathan Abboud and SBCC President Erika Endrijonas participated in an awesome panel moderated by Tonya Williams, titled “Mobilizing Vision 2030.”

Our new Vice Chancellor of Workforce and Economic Development, Anthony Cordova, and Don Daves-Rougeaux, Senior Advisor, Workforce and Strategic Partnerships, were also on hand to discuss Career Education and Dual Enrollment.
